Workshop for Faculty

Hawaii International Clinical Teaching Workshop (H-ICTW)

June 3-5, 2020

OVERVIEW

This 2.5 day workshop is designed to introduce busy practicing physicians to practical teaching skills and important educational concepts. Instruction will be in English, and conversational English skills are required. Methods will include lectures, discussions, and small group exercises.

WORKSHOP FACULTY

The workshop is led by Dr. Richard Kasuya, Professor of Medicine at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.  Dr. Kasuya is an experienced teacher and educational administrator, and has been elected by Hawaii medical students for 15 annual teaching awards.

PARTICIPANT INFORMATION

The target audience are international physicians and selected residents who have responsibilities for teaching interns and/or medical students in clinical settings.

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

To complete your registration, please follow these two steps:

1. Register for the Workshop

Please complete the registration form by Monday, May 11, 2020, Hawaii Time.

2. Pay Registration Fee

$1,000 USD. The registration fee includes tuition, program materials, daily round trip transportation between your hotel and the workshop, Aloha Lunch and transportation to and from the Aloha Lunch.

Payment of your registration fee is due by Monday, May 11, 2020 (Hawaii Time).

We also offer a group discount
Schools that send 5 or more participants will receive a group discount.

Instructions for payment and payment deadline will be arranged with participants via email upon enrollment confirmation.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements including air and lodging.

        We recommend staying in the Ala Moana or Waikiki areas, which are very accessible to the JABSOM campus.

INFORMATION FOR VISA WAIVER PROGRAM COUNTRY PARTICIPANTS

Participant countries in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to the United States must register and pay a fee through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization.  This process can be completed online: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY (All dates based on Hawaii Time)

Cancellation of participation in any PBL Workshop will be accepted until May 11, 2020 for a full refund**.

Any cancellations received after May 11, 2020 will be eligible for a partial refund**.

**Refunds will be subject to any fees incurred by the JABSOM Office of Medical Education during the refund process.
